Why would someone in this day and age wear a belted pad?

Not all women wear underpants, and of those who do wear underpants, not all wear the "conventional" tight fitting briefs style. Some women wear looser fitting "bloomers" or men's boxer shorts, which are too loose fitting to hold a pad in place. Some women wear underpants more like tight fitting shorts that have a crotch section too wide to snap a pad around.

Some women want the extra security of a pad that is held against the body more firmly than you might get from regular underpants and pads. For whatever reason, there are women who do prefer belted pads.

So if you want to go for a belted pad, what options do you have? There aren't many pad makers offering a belted pad, because there are less women wanting belted pads. But there are a few around, and you could always make your own.

There seems to be 2 main types of belted pad.

A style where the belt is a removable piece and is threaded through tabs/casing in an absorbent pad (Such as "Reddy's" and "Moontimes"), or attached to the pad in some way, such as hooks ("Wemoon" night pad) - so that when the pad is changed, the belt part can be removed and added to a clean pad. If the pad has a folded over end for the tab/casing section, this can be made to have an adjustable length by using buttons, hooks and eyes or other fasteners (as shown in this example of a holder type belted pad).
Or they can be in a style where the belt is attached to, or threaded into (as in the ways mentioned above) a holder (rather than an absorbent pad), which holds the removable absorbent pads or allows a normal winged pad to be snapped around it. This allows the inserts or pad to be replaced as needed, while leaving the belt and holder on. The holder may contain waterproofing or be of natural fibres such as cotton.
